Nich Rogers

Senior Consultant

Nich is a consultant and social justice advocate with 25 years experience working across the health and community services sectors.

He has held executive and management roles across the housing and homelessness, alcohol and other drug, community health and psychiatric disability sectors. Nich also has a well-developed reputation as a researcher, evaluator and service development consultant. Nich has volunteered as a board member for Darebin Community Legal Centre, VICSERV (Victoria’s psychiatric disability peak body), and at Morrison House (an alternative education provider).

Prior to working as a consultant Nich was General Manager of National Programs for Ladder, an AFL affiliated program building independence and leadership skills in young people at risk of homelessness. Nich also previously worked in senior management roles at Neami and Anchor Inc, and in research, evaluation and service development roles at YSAS (Youth Support and Advocacy Service).

Nich’s particular interest is the better coordination and integration of services both within and across sectors to improve access and outcomes. He uses social models of health and inclusion to frame practice and is focused on identifying community assets and resources to reduce presentations for support and treatment. He is also committed to identifying and embedding evidence into practice, in order to allocate scarce resources where they will have greatest impact.

Nich has specialist expertise in adolescent health and wellbeing. He believes strengths focused relationship based practice where goal setting and action is led by the service user best builds confidence, motivation for change, and capacity to live independently. He completed his thesis on the impact of the therapeutic alliance on treatment outcomes in an alcohol and other drug setting.

Nich has postgraduate qualifications in Clinical Psychology, a Graduate Diploma of Business Management, a Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs, and Accreditation as a Clinical Supervisor and Drug Assessor. He has also completed training in use of the DSM-IV. Nich has a series of peer reviewed publications in the areas of mental health and substance use.
