Lirata works on 20+ consulting and capacity building projects each year with a multitude of partner organisations and stakeholders. To be able to manage this portfolio of activities and achieve our purpose, we rely on strong organisational systems and a well-developed project management framework.

To support our work, we are seeking an experienced administration specialist looking for a varied and interesting role.

About this role

Our Administration Coordinator position is the key corporate services role in our organisation. In this role, you will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer and in collaboration with the other members of Lirata’s core staff. Your focus will be to ensure that organisational and project management systems function efficiently, effectively and consistently. This enables us to achieve our objectives on time, within budget and with high quality.

You will work across multiple areas of administration. Your core focus will cover:

  • Finance
  • Human Resources
  • Basic IT administration
  • Office logistics
  • Project administration
  • Governance, risk and compliance


Depending on your skills and areas of interest, there are opportunities to contribute to other areas of our work such as website administration, social media, report editing, grant writing, policy development, knowledge management, data analysis, fundraising and more. We will look to you to continue to develop and document our organisational systems and processes.

We are initially able to offer a casual appointment. There is potential to offer ongoing part-time employment in future.

Requirements

This is a challenging role due to its breadth and the fast-paced environment in which we work. It requires substantial experience in busy administration environments (minimum 3 years, 5+ years preferred).

  • You will need the ability to successfully juggle multiple tasks and to keep administration up to date across multiple projects and corporate areas. You will need to be highly organised to achieve this.
  • You will need to be a strong systems thinker with outstanding attention to detail, and a high level of accuracy in your work.
  • Communication and teamwork are vital, and you will need to excel at coordinating your work with colleagues, designing effective processes, and helping people understand and implement them.
  • You will also need to be confident with IT and to be able to quickly learn a range of new software packages.

Can your creative design skills strengthen our social justice work?

Lirata is seeking to partner with a person or team with strong graphic design skills, to refresh the look and feel of our website and other key communications materials.

We need your help to better present our identity and work to the world.

About this role

We are seeking a volunteer graphic designer to assist us with one or more of the following areas:

  • Refreshing the design of our website - in collaboration with our volunteer web developer who is rebuilding the site structure and functionality.
  • New marketing materials - especially brochures but also postcards, a better PowerPoint template and more.
  • Report templates - our current template is fine but dull. We need your help to develop more options which support greater use of images.


The website is our top priority for the August – October 2019 period.


We hope to find a person or team who:

  • Would like to contribute time on a volunteer basis to support the social justice work of Lirata and our many project partners.
  • Has a consultative and collaborative approach, and will work in partnership with our staff.
  • Will provide fresh ideas to get our design thinking out of the rut.
  • Has strong technical skills and a reasonable level of experience in graphic/creative design.
  • For the website refresh - has existing experience in website design, and strong knowledge of responsive design.


We will welcome you to our friendly team, provide support, and work closely with you to get great outcomes from your contribution. We are open to your preferences about how much time you are able to contribute, how often, and whether you would like to join us on a project-specific basis (e.g. just for one piece of work) or would like to work with us over time on a variety of areas.

Lirata's marketing and communications activities are managed by our CEO Mark Planigale. Mark and other members of Lirata's staff will work closely with you to inform your work and provide content.
