About this project

The Emerging Community Leaders program is an initiative of the Tasmanian Community Fund. Emerging Community Leaders aims to foster the development of the next generation of community sector leaders in Tasmania.

Strengthening community sector leadership

Emerging Community Leaders commenced in February 2017 and supports participants to develop and improve applied skills in governance, finance, leadership, management, communication, and project management, and to equip them with the capability and capacity to positively contribute to their sector and the community. The program has been delivered through a series of residential workshops, along with community-based projects. Emerging Community Leaders supports a diverse participant cohort.

Evaluation

Lirata is the evaluation partner for the ECL program, and has provided a series of annual evaluation reports. The evaluation has a strong impact focus with investigation of outcomes for participants, organisations and the broader community. The methodology includes a literature review, pre- and post- surveys of participants, organisational surveys, interviews, observation and follow-up of past participants.

Evaluation reports have highlighted the significant achievements of the program and its participants, as well as identifying areas for fine-tuning of the program approach.
